Jimmy and Sid

I’ve recently photographed incredible folk duo, Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith for their impending third album.  Jimmy is marrying my cousin Emma shortly and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding.

Jimmy and Sid are one of the finest talents to hit the British folk and accoustic scene in recent years with their combination of outstanding vocal work, sensitive instrumentation and incredible storytelling.  They are, quite simply, a breath of fresh air.

Their critically acclaimed second album ‘Night Hours’ was released in 2016 and described by the Guardian as ‘an impressive set. The duo are both fine singers and multi-instrumentalists.’  It’s a heartfelt, haunting album and I loved it!

The songs themselves are always centre stage, combining original material with some traditional ballads.  Jimmy and Sid bring their creations to life with stunning musical arrangements and sweet vocals. I can’t wait for the next album to come out.

Hermione and Benjie

I have been lucky enough to photograph some friends’ children marrying recently.   Hermione and Benjie’s wedding last Summer was one such and it was a beautiful day to be a part of. The wedding was at their stunning home in Somerset where they’d cleverly installed a Marquee inside a barn.  The sun shone all day and night; Hermione looked stunning in her wedding dress made by the very talented Emma Victoria Payne; the ceremony was perfect and the speeches terrific.

Flowers were done by the very talented Baz –  stunning wild flowers which were perfect in the country setting.   www.flowersbybaz.co.uk/contact

Leonie and Andy at The Tithe Barn on the Symondsbury Estate

Often when I photograph a wedding the most rushed part of the day is after the bride has put her wedding dress on and before the wedding ceremony begins.

But at Leonie and Andy’s wedding in October last year, not only did we have amazing weather but we had enough time to do some stunning portraits on the beach before the ceremony with Leonie and their little daughter Eva.

Higher Orchard Wedding Receptions - Perfect wedding location!

I recently did a Wedding Photo-shoot at Higher Orchard, a stunning new venue for Wedding Receptions near Sherborne in Dorset. This is a beautiful, private location with lake, lovely gardens and wonderful views set in the magical Dorset countryside.

If you want a country house wedding, but don’t have a country house, then this is the place for you.

Hosts Fiona and Roger Potter could not be more empathetic or relaxed. As well as offering their amazing gardens, they can also provide an architect-designed cottage for the bride and groom to stay in, secretly concealed behind a log façade.

With acres of fields in which guests are welcome to camp and a flat lawn for a MQ, the Potters have everything you need for a truly stylish country wedding.

Many thanks to :

Susan Hinckley from Parham House Brides for supplying the beautiful wedding dress : ‘Rosabella’ dress by Suzanne Neville – made of Italian Matt crepe with hand appliqued embroidery. It has a sweetheart neckline and soft fishtail shaped skirt.

Thanks too to Astaires for kindly lending us a morning suit; Gemma and Matt & my daughter Jessie for modelling plus Ignacious & the Potters, and Milly the Labrador!

Also thanks to Elouise Abbott for makeup and Helen Cass for hair design.

Finally, a Big thanks to Emma Urquart from Brompton Buds for the fabulous bouquet and the Potters for making us all feel so at home.

Charlotte and Dan's Wedding

Charlotte and Dan’s wedding at St Audries Park in Somerset was a wonderful day with much love, laughter, music and croquet!

Charlotte, the lovely bride, looked stunning with her hair done by Racehl Drakely, from Clara Mann Hair Designs.

The ceremony took place in the idyllic St Etheldreda’s Church, a short sunny walk from the impressive Manor House and in full view of the resident herd of deer.

The guests enjoyed canapés in the Victorian Orangery, followed by a sit-down wedding breakfast in the banqueting hall.

Charlotte’s brother played the flute as the guests took their seats, passing by the lovely tree seating plan.

We were blessed with a lovely sunny day and Charlotte and Dan took full advantage of St. Audrie’s Park’s manicured lawns with an evening game of croquet before the dancing kicked off.

"From the moment we met you we felt you were going to be the right photographer for us and you proved us right.  You're awe-inspiring, creative, imaginative, passionate and unique.  We cannot thank you enough for capturing our day in the way that you did.  Your professionalism and dedication made your participation in our day as successful as it was.  Thanks to you we will always be able to share and reflect on our happy day through your images." Charlotte & Dan.

Hannah and Jonathans wedding at Hornsbury Mill

Hannah & Jonathan, August 2016

Hannah and Jonathan couldn’t have picked a better day for their wedding in August, 2016. The sun shone all day the vintage car behaved impeccably and the grand piano Hannah had installed for the afternoon was played to perfection by their friend Alastair.

None of the guests got lost between the Church and the venue, the fabulously friendly Hornsbury Mill, and the peacocks even posed for us! They even had a doggy bag of wedding cake, a gorgeous pavlova made by their friends Tareg and Leota to take on their honeymoon at The Scarlet Hotel in Cornwall.

Scarlett and Tom, August 2016

Scarlett and Tom had a stunning country wedding at Cothelstone, next to where I lived for many years. I’ve known Scarlett since she was a teenager when she used to babysit my little girls so it was such a joy for me to be chosen as her and Tom’s wedding photographer.

Scarlett and Tom held their reception in a beautiful marquee on the banks of Cothelstone lake www.thelakesideweddings.co.uk and inspite of changeable weather were able to walk from Cothelstone Church, where their ceremony took place, through the lovely parkland to the marquee. The settting was completely idyllic, complete with a pair of swans on the lake!

Scarlett’s dress was by Sassi Holford (is that right) and hair was done by Hair by Lianne Arden (Hair by Lianne on facebook).

Their brilliant band was called Blue Juice and you can find them www.functioncentral.co.uk

Scarlett and Tom said...

'It was such a pleasure and comfort to have Emily as our photographer. She was thoroughly professional whilst being a really relaxed presence throughout the day. We wouldn't have known she was there! Her effortless friendliness helped to capture the happiness of everyone involved in our day perfectly and the prints were as wonderful as we could have hoped.'

Bingo in Malta!

I had a great trip to ‪#‎Malta‬ in February and enjoyed spring sunshine and the warmth of the Maltese.

I stumbled across this Bingo game in a fishing village on the way to the airport! Valetta is a real gem and the perfect place for a weekend away.

We stayed at the wonderful ASTI GUEST HOUSE where the fabulous Annie (who is 83) made us feel part of the family!

Family Portraits

I am lucky enough to do a number of photo-shoots each year with the fabulous Sleeps 12 and I recently had the pleasure to photograph Jan and her family and friends at Cockercombe.

They stayed very near me in West Bagborough, at the foot of the stunning Quanotck Hills and we took a series of photos in the garden with the whole gang and then smaller family groups.

Harriet and Sam's Wedding

Sam and Harriet, both doctors, had the most lovely wedding in Kingston St. Mary Church, near Taunton and then afterwards at Harriet’s family’s home and beautiful gardens.

In spite of torrential rain the week preceding their big day, the sun shone brightly all day for us and not a puddle was in sight.

Harriet’s dress was by local designer Sassi Holford;  her hair was done by Kelly from The Mount Salon, Wellington and Katie Allway did her make up.

This country wedding had stunning table decorations, a magical umbrella tree and a little pond lit up with floating fairy lights!
